The Hospital Guide is published annually by the Dr Foster organisation – the organisation which, on behalf of the Government, measures healthcare across a range of different areas that are important to patients. It publishes its findings every year in the annual Hospital Guide which was distributed with the Observer newspaper at the end of November 2010.
Trusts are measured against a range of indicators, including the treatments it offers for life-threatening conditions such as stroke, its mortality rates, patient experience and the priority it places on ensuring safe services.
Trust Chief Executive Stuart Bain said the award reflects the dedication of the Trust’s 7,000 staff who always go the extra mile for their patients.
In a letter to all East Kent Hospitals staff, he and Trust Chairman Nicholas Wells said: “This national public recognition of the work which is being done right across the Trust is a brilliant acknowledgement of what you have all been doing.”
