Public and staff Governor elections to two thirds of the elected seats on the Council of Governors were held in February 2012.

By-elections were held during June 2012 for two uncontested Shepway seats and one staff seat.

In February 2013 further by-elections were held following the retirement of Lesley Long (staff Governor) and resignation of David Smith (Elected Governor, Ashford). Both seats were contested and the vacancies were filled.

The Trust was informed of the death of Tom Sheridan Elected Governor (Ashford Constituency) in early 2012/13. Mr Sheridan had been elected from 1 March 2012. The Trust's Constitution has the provision to approach the next highest polling candidates should a Governor leave (or otherwise) the Council during their first year of election. As a result, Derek Light joined the Council of Governors.
