Having an MRI scan?

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust has produced a short film for patients who are about to have an MRI scan.

400 patients a year are so frightened by MRI machines that they refuse to have their vital diagnostic tests done.

Because of these concerns we have made this film to help you understand what having an MRI scan is all about. We show you what happens before the scan and introduce you to some of our patients who tell you about their experiences.

For more details, see our 'Having an MRI' webpages.

Da Vinci Robot Surgery at East Kent Hospitals
Da Vinci Robotic Surgery at East Kent Hospitals

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust has paid out £1.5 million to secure the services of the most highly-skilled surgical hands on the planet.

The DaVinci robot is being used to operate on prostate cancer at Kent & Canterbury Hospital. The first robotic surgery in Kent successfully took place at the beginning of May and several other operations have been carried out since, with patients only needing to stay in overnight after the procedure, experiencing less pain and recovering up to ten weeks earlier than they would have if they had received traditional surgery.
