Gail Tasker, Julie Bell, Jean Robbins and Ros Marshall
Gail Tasker, Julie Bell, Jean Robbins and Ros Marshall

The service covers the East Kent area.  Where possible, the aim of the service is to introduce ourselves to patients prior to their surgery and to provide support, education and adequate pre-operative preparation together with continuity of care throughout their stay in hospital.

This service is for Stoma, Colostomy, Ileostomy, Urostomy, Fistula and Internal Ileo-anal pouch patients, new and established.

News

Returning and recycling ostomy products

OstomyAid is currently gathering unused supplies from across the UK and from the major manufacturers to put to good use in developing countries. Their mission is:

To provide people in developing countries affected by stoma surgery with the physical resources to support and  improve their long term well-being and to reduce the wastage of usable ostomy appliances and accessories in th UK.

We will redistribute unused ostomy supplies donated to us to countries such as Ethiopia, Malawi and Sudan where the demad for these supplies is ever increasing. By providing these resources to countries most in need and twinning professional stoma care nurses within the hospitals of these countries, these supplies will be worth far more than they could have been in the UK.

Ambassador for Ostomy Lifestyle 'Mercy'

As a big part of promotion for OstomyAid, artist Heidi Yssennagger has created Mercy (pictured right). Her skin is made from unused stoma bags and she is also wearing a stoma bag. Mercy represents an African woman affected by intestinal surgery and is exactly who OstomyAid is designed to help by sending out unused stoma supplies from the UK to developing countries in Africa.
