Physiotherapy Services

Physiotherapists provide a range of interventions which include treatment, education and advice. Physiotherapists aim to restore, maintain and improve a person’s function and movement and therefore maximise quality of life.

Extended Scope Practitioners Service

Extended Scope Practitioners are highly qualified expert therapists who work in an extended role and provide a range of interventions which include treatment, education and advice.

Speech and Language Therapy

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust offer a comprehensive service in Speech and Language Therapy. It is split across three localities: Ashford, Shepway and Dover/Deal.

Paediatric Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists help children develop skills in the areas of self care, school and play.

Hand Therapy Services

The Hand Therapy team consists of occupational therapists  and physiotherapists who work closely together using generic and specialist skills  providing therapist input in some fracture clinics and are able to order and interpret x-rays as well as refer for some other diagnostic tests.

Occupational Therapy Services

Occupational Therapy enables individuals to take part in activities of daily living that they need or want to do. Occupational Therapists work with people of all ages and their carers to overcome the difficulties they have as a result of illness, disability and barriers in their environment.

 Paediatric Orthopaedic Service

The Paediatric Orthopaedic Service is a specialist service which provides non-surgical and surgical treatment for musculoskeletal conditions affecting children.

 The Paediatric Orthopaedic Service has an expert multi-disciplinary team specialising in the treatment of babies and children with congenital, developmental and acquired musculoskeletal conditions.

Inpatient Physiotherapy Services

 

Physiotherapists work in all inpatient areas and see the patients either on the ward or within the inpatient department .

 Day Hospital

The Day Hospital provides multidisciplinary assessment and rehabilitation to enable individuals to achieve maximum independence and improved quality of life within their home and social environment. 

Walking Sticks

Walking aids cost the NHS huge sums of money every year to supply to patients and these aids are more often than not never returned to the hospitals to be reused.
