Extended Scope Practitioners Service

Who are we?

Extended Scope Practitioners (ESP) are highly qualified specialised therapists who work in an extended role alongside a consultant. If you are referred to an orthopaedic clinic you may be seen by ESP who works alongside the consultant and their registrar.

We are able to order investigations such as scans, x-rays and blood tests and will ensure that you are on the right treatment pathway.

How do you get to see an Extended Scope Practitioner?

You can be referred by either your GP or a consultant and you will be contacted by phone or a letter to arrange your appointment.

If you don't attend your appointment...

  • If you fail to contact us and do not attend you first appointment you will be discharged from our list, and we will need a further referral from your GP/consultant
  • Failure to attend follow-up appointments will result in automatic discharge from our care.

Patient transport

If you think you are eligible for transport, please book via your GP.
