Hearing test after treatment for meningitis
What is this leaflet about?
The leaflet provides information for parents and carers of children who have been treated for meningitis or bacterial septicaemia. Approximately one in 10 children who survive meningitis develop deafness or hearing loss as a result of the illness, making deafness the most common after-effect of meningitis. This leaflet explains the tests that can be carried out to assess your child's hearing and the possible treatment options that are available.
