Learning Disabilities

There are lots of resources available for learning disabilities - as well as e-journals and e-books, there are RSS feeds from top journals to keep you up to date, useful links to external websites and more.

We have tailored this page to help signpost you to the resources you need, all in one place. If there is anything you would like us to add,  contact us and help us improve your page.

Online Resources: e-books and e-journals

Click on the tabs below to see a list of e-books and e-journals for your specialty, available with your Athens login. Register for an Athens account if you don't already have one.

Please note that these lists are not exhaustive, so if  you can not find what you are looking for, try the online catalogue or contact library staff, who will be happy to try and source it for you.

Other Online resources

See our resources page for a full list of online resources the library service provides, including BMJ Case Reports, UpToDate, DynaMed and Anatomy TV.

Evidence Based Clinical Summaries

UpToDate

(Athens login required)

UpToDate is an evidence-based, peer-reviewed information resource providing topic reviews that include a synthesis of the literature, the latest evidence and specific recommendations for patient care.

The Pediatrics: Behaviour and Development  section contains a range of learning disability topic reviews.

DynaMed

(Athens login required)

We now have access to DynaMed, the popular clinical information resource.

Search clinically-organised summaries for more than 3,400 topics, designed for health care professionals for use at point-of-care.

All evidence is clinically evaluated and integrated into DynaMed's existing content on a daily basis, so that a synthesis of the best evidence is always available.

Current Awareness

We have collected the RSS feeds of some top Cardiology journals and news sites and put them all in one place for you to browse at your convenience.

Hosted by Netvibes,  your Learning Disabilities current awareness page means you only have to go to one place, rather than visiting each individual website that you are interested in.

If there is a feed that you want us to include, just let us know and we'll add it in.

  • Unsure what RSS feeds are? See our Current Awareness page for more information.

Table of Contents (TOC) Alerts

Table of Contents alerts automatically notify you when a new issue of a journal is published.

If you want us to set up a TOC alert for you, just get in touch and we can set up the alert to come straight to your email inbox.

For more information TOC alerts and other ideas on how to keep up to date, see our Current Awareness page.
