Education and career history
Dr Nunes graduated from the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town in 1994.  He moved to the UK in 1995 where he undertook basic medical and subsequent specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in the South Thames training programme.  He spent a period of four years at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and this included a period of research with King’s College London in Oral Crohn’s Disease, Orofacial Granulomatosis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.  During this period he gained extensive experience in both upper and lower GI diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. 
 
Dr Nunes completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in 2008 and was appointed Consultant at Kent & Canterbury Hospital the same year. He sees patients with all gastroenterological conditions and has developed a special interest in Oral Crohn’s disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and general luminal gastroenterology. Dr Nunes is also an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist, developing a special interest in bowel cancer and advanced therapeutic endoscopy. He has also been invited to become a lecturer at the St George’s Hospital, London colonoscopy training courses which he has taken up.
