NHS Transport

Patient Transport Services (PTS) are provided for those patients whose medical condition means they cannot get to their appointment in any other way. PTS is a vital resource for those who need it and should not be seen as an alternative to a taxi or as a means to avoid the inconvenience or cost of parking.

Find out more about NHS Transport and see if you are eligible.

Help with costs

If you are on certain benefits or have a low income you may be able to get help with the cost of public transport, taxi fares, and petrol costs when visiting a hospital, whether you are coming for an outpatient appointment or an inpatient stay. You may also be able to claim back car parking costs.
