Our hospitals:

What you can expect

  • All your own medications will be prescribed on admission by doctors, unless inappropriate due to your current medical condition
  • A registered nurse will administer your prescribed medicines, ensuring that they are taken and not left unattended
  • A pharmacist is also available to review your medications
  • All new medicines will be explained to you by a member of staff
  • Any new medicines started in hospital will be supplied on discharge
  • If you require further supplies of your regular medicines, please let a member of staff know.

How you can help

  • It is important to bring in all medicines that you are taking at the time of your admission or to ask a relative or friend to bring them in
  • These medicines must be handed to a member of the nursing staff and will be kept in a locked cupboard
  • Please take your medicines when the nurse gives them to you.
