Updated November 2022

The emergency departments at QEQM Hospital, Margate and William Harvey Hospital, Ashford are undergoing an exciting transformation, thanks to £30m national NHS investment.

Both departments are being significantly expanded, with new entrances and improved waiting areas, treatment areas for adults and children, and staff facilities.

This will help us see and treat more patients in timely way, in much improved surroundings.

Liz Shutler, Deputy Chief Executive says: “This is excellent news for patients and staff and means that we can fulfil our ambition of providing the best possible care in the best possible environment.

“Our nurses, doctors and build teams have worked hard to design a much bigger and better space to treat some of our sickest patients.”

Large extensions to both emergency departments are now open, with extensive renovations inside the existing departments due to complete in 2023.

Our emergency departments will look very different while the building work is underway. We are making every effort to minimise disruption while this vital improvement work takes place.
