Decision-making meeting on future stroke services to take place this month

24 January 2019

The Joint Committee of NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups for the Kent and Medway Review of Urgent Stroke Services will meet on Thursday 14 February at 2pm at the Hilton Hotel, Maidstone.

This meeting will be held in public so that people can attend to hear members of the Joint Committee discuss the decision-making business case and reach their final decision on whether to proceed with the preferred option of establishing hyper acute stroke units at Maidstone, Darent Valley and William Harvey hospitals.

Places are limited and it is essential to register in advance at https://kmstroke-jcccg-14feb19.eventbrite.co.uk or by phoning 0300 7906796. The decision-making business case is available at www.kentandmedway.nhs.uk/stroke/dmbc

For those unable to attend, a public announcement on the outcome will be made as soon as possible after the meeting.

The Joint Committee of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) for the Kent and Medway Review of Urgent Stroke Services is a joint decision making committee with members from 10 CCGs – all eight CCGs from Kent and Medway, along with NHS High Weald Lewes Havens CCG in East Sussex and NHS Bexley CCG in south east London.

The role of the Joint Committee is to agree how stroke services in Kent and Medway will be organised and delivered to achieve the greatest benefit for the population of people for whom a Kent and Medway hospital is currently their closest urgent stroke service.

The Joint Committee is made up of voting and non-voting members. There are two voting members from each of the CCGs each with a single vote. Non-voting members provide support, advice and expertise to the committee.

Further information on the committee is available at https://kentandmedway.nhs.uk/stroke/stroke-jcccg/
