Industrial Action - 29 January

UPDATE: following talks with the Government, trade unions have announced that the industrial action planned for Thursday 29 January has now been called off.

A number of Health Unions are calling on their members to take strike action on Thursday 29 January for 12 hours from 9am to 9pm, which may affect some patients. The Trust has an obligation to make sure that emergency and critical services are unaffected by any action and is working with the trades unions to identify critical services that would need to be protected. The Trust has robust plans in place to protect patients and ensure their quality of care but there may be some disruption on the day, which we will try to keep to a minimum, however during this time we would ask patients to bear with us.

You can help by following these guidelines:

  1. If you have an appointment at one of our hospitals on this date, please attend as normal, unless you receive a changed appointment from the hospital.
  2. If you normally book patient transport, please understand that on this day our transport resources are being used for emergencies only, to support the ambulance service. Therefore, please don’t book it unless absolutely urgent.
  3. One of the areas we are prioritising is A&E services. But please help us treat emergency and critically injured patients by not turning up to A&E unless absolutely necessary. If in doubt, people should contact their GP surgery or contact the 111 service for advice.

Thank you for your co-operation.
