At our staff listening meetings late last year, staff commented that they would like to see senior managers more and would like to feel that senior managers undersant more about what they do. Members of the Trust Board have now started job shadowing other members of staff.
Stuart Bain, Chief Executive, recently spent time in the Emergency Care Centre, Kent & Canterbury Hospital, job shadowing Charge Nurse Jill Clarke.
Since then Liz Shutler, Director of Strategic Development & Capital Planning, spent the day following estates carpenter Christ Downer at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital. Liz was really impressed with the variety of jobs the carpenters had to work on as they went through the day. Liz has implemented changes to ensure that relevant spares are available quicker and implemented a review of our contractor use.
