A recent report published by the Trauma Audit & Research Network (TARN) shows that the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford is the best performing hospital receiving trauma patients in England and Wales.
The report rated over 100 hospitals offering trauma facilities across the country and ranked them according to performance based on survival rates of patients.
The unit, which forms part of a wider trauma network introduced in 2013 sees patients with serious and life threatening injuries.
Dr Matt Jones, Consultant Anaesthetist and Director of Trauma for East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust said: “Without the immense teamwork and close collaboration with our partners – from pre-hospital providers to the teams responsible for rehabilitation following injury, none of this would have been possible. This is a fantastic achievement and is a reflection of all the hard work put in by all our staff.”
