East Kent Hospitals has won the ‘Enhancing Innovation Through Collaboration’ Award at the 2016 Kent Surrey Sussex Academic Health Science Network Awards.
EKHUFT and Careflow Connect Ltd won the award for their real-time communication, alerting and referrals system across multi-disciplinary teams.
East Kent Hospitals began developing clinical alerting systems in 2013 in order to provide real time alerts to front-line medical staff. They secured a partnership with a commercial organisation to extend the scope of their project. It now provides a secure, portable electronic alerting system for doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals that can be accessed on any portable device with an internet connection. It has created secure networks for patent handover and referral, it has facilitated hospital at night transfers of care and it develops patient lists to provide better continuity of care in the acute setting.
