Patient’s fundraising success

A prostate cancer patient organised a Golf Day to raise funds for the expert team who treated him at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Keith Martin, of Sturry, inspired 65 fellow golfers to take part at Canterbury Golf Club in September 2015 and the event raised £1,800. Mr Martin presented the cheque to Urology Consultant Ben Eddy and Prostate Nurse Specialist Ben Hearnden at the Urology Suite.

Mr Martin, whose operation in December 2014 was successful, said he wanted to ‘give something back’ to the people who had cared for him. He said: “I was very impressed with the hospital; I was quickly dealt with and the follow-up care was excellent.”

Mr Eddy, who uses pioneering robotic surgery to treat prostate cancer patients, said he was very grateful for the donation and it would most likely be used for training and up-skilling of senior nurses.”
