Changing tastes at QEQM

Patients and staff at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital are now benefiting from a trial food and refreshments service that offers better quality and includes popular brands such as Kenco and Tetley.

The trial, which got underway at the beginning of the month, will also see any food and drink items ordered being delivered directly to housekeepers in their kitchens – freeing up more of their valuable time to spend with patients. Previously, housekeepers have had to fetch the goods themselves.

It will also mean cost saving for the Trust as result of the switch. 2gether Support Solutions have been working with Trust dietitians to identify a selection of well-known branded products from NHS Supply Chain, to replace own brands from the current supplier.

At the end of the month, the teams involved in the trial will give their feedback to find out the impact the new service has had before it is rolled out across the Trust, and to make sure the expected savings were achieved.

Beverley Webb, Housekeeper, said: “Patients are enjoying the Tetley tea and nice choice of biscuits!”
