Santa had a few extra helpers in Thanet this Christmas, led by mum Amy Morgan and her toddler son Logan.

The pair visited the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital on Monday, to deliver festive food parcels for staff working over Christmas.

After posting about her idea on a Thanet Facebook group, Amy was inundated with offers of help and she and Logan delivered two huge boxes of food to the maternity and emergency departments, as well as toys for the children’s waiting area.

She said: “I had the idea because one of my best friends will be working through the Christmas period as a midwife at QEQM, missing out on time with her family to help complete and support someone else’s.

“She finds it incredibly rewarding but I know it is also busy and I thought it would be good to be able to show them they are appreciated.

“I initially ordered some snacks but thanks to the generosity of everyone on the Facebook group we were able to give a lovely package for the maternity team and the emergency team as well.”
