Niall Dickson CBE took up his post as Chairman of East Kent Hospitals on Monday, 5 April.
Niall was the Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation until October 2020, and was previously Chief Executive and Registrar of the General Medical Council and Chief Executive of the health thinktank, The King’s Fund. His appointment to East Kent Hospitals was announced in February.
“It is such a privilege to join the amazing team at East Kent who have done so much for our patients through this terrible period. The NHS now faces enormous challenges as do we at East Kent Hospitals, but we believe there are also truly exciting opportunities," said Niall. "The pandemic has shown how clinical staff can find new ways to organise and deliver care and we are determined to build on that. I'm looking forward to working with the Board of Directors and the Council of Governors to empower our front-line teams to enable them to provide the best care possible for every one of our patients."
