Audiology services

The Acute Audiology Service carries out tests and procedures for our patients in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of the various hearing, tinnitus and balance disorders; we operate from 5 hospital sites and cover the wider East Kent and Thanet areas.  

Our services include:

  • Direct referrals from GPs, GP with Special Interest in ENT (GPwSI in ENT) and ENT consultants for hearing aid assessments, hearing aid fittings, hearing rehabilitation and hearing aid maintenance
  • Routine and complex diagnostic hearing assessments for ENT and GPwSI in ENT
  • Tinnitus assessment and rehabilitation service
  • Hyperacusis assessment and rehabilitation service
  • Hearing Therapy for communication and hearing difficulties
  • Vestibular assessment and rehabilitation service from ENT and GPwSI in ENT
  • Hearing Implants (Bone Conduction and Middle Ear) assessment, hearing processor fitting and rehabilitation service
  • Complex hearing assessment and rehabilitation service
  • New Born Hearing Screening Program diagnostic assessment
  • Supporting community hearing and tinnitus groups
  • Paediatric to Adult Transition Service

As we are an acute audiology service, we do not provide home visits, However, there are providers in the community, please see your GP for appropriate referral.

Audiology is situated in Clinic C of the Outpatients Department, take a seat and the audiologist will come and collect you for your appointment.

The Audiology reception is situated in Area C of the Outpatients Department; take a seat and the audiologist will come and collect you for your appointment, If your appointment is at the Rotary Suite please make your way to the Ear Nose & Throat reception and knock on the Audiology Room Door.

Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother - St Peters Road, Margate, Kent. CT9 4AN  
Audiology is situated in the Outpatient Department. Please take a seat in Waiting Area D  when you arrive and the audiologist will come and collect you for your appointment.

Buckland Hospital - Coombe Valley Road, Dover, Kent. CT17 0HD  
Audiology is situated in the Outpatients Department, please check in at reception when you arrive and the audiologist will come and collect you for your appointment.

Royal Victoria Hospital, Folkestone - Radnor Park Avenue, Folkestone, Kent. CT19 5BN   
Audiology is situated in Clinic B of the Outpatients Department. You will need to take the stairs or the lift to level 2 and take a seat and the audiologist will come and collect you for your appointment.
