Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU)

The mobile unit provides anti-cancer and supportive treatments in a comfortable environment.

Hope for Tomorrow

The mobile chemotherapy service is run by experienced Chemotherapy Nurses who have worked in the hospital based chemotherapy units.

The chemotherapy unit in Ashford has been temporarily relocated to the Kent & Canterbury Hospital. Our mobile unit is based in Ashford for 3 days a week. This allows us to continue to treat as many patients as we can at the William Harvey Hospital while we expand and train our workforce and ensure we provide an optimum service. It also travels to other areas of Kent to provide anti-cancer treatment and supportive therapies in the community.

The Mobile Chemotherapy Unit is provided by the charity Hope for Tomorrow and is named Caron, after Caron Keating, who passed away on 13 April 2004, following her battle with cancer.

Sites:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday – Ashford (car park to the back of the William Harvey Hospital)

Tuesday – Herne Bay (car park between the swimming pool and Morrisons)

Thursday – Dover (Whitfield Tesco)

Times as required

The mobile chemotherapy service is run by experienced Chemotherapy Nurses who have worked in the hospital based chemotherapy units.

Out of hours urgent advice line

Patients receiving chemotherapy will receive the number of a 24 hour advice line. This allows patients to get advice on their condition even when the units are closed. It should not be used in case of real emergencies such as chest pain, or shortness of breath, these should always be dealt with by dialling 999. For any administrational issues such as those regarding appointments or transport, the units should be contacted during their business hours (see the 'About the unit' tab above)
