Thomas, Dr George
Job title
Consultant in Geriatrics and Stroke
Specialty
I am dual accredited in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine.
Special interests
I am committed to providing timely and appropriate care to stroke survivors and TIA patients, in East Kent. I am part of a team in east Kent providing 24 hour thrombolysis as part of hyper acute stroke care and we also provide rapid access TIA clinics 365 days a year. Almost all of the high risk TIA patients are assessed within 24 hours of receiving the referral.
I also look after patients with acute general medical problems who are admitted under my care.
I am interested in investigating and treating challenging and often complex medical problems, which tends to happen more commonly in older people. My general medical out-patient waiting time is less that two weeks, and I am flexible enough to accommodate urgent cases within a few days.
I have facility to arrange day case procedures like “top-up” transfusion in our aptly named Friend’s day hospital.
I am interested in under graduate and post graduate teaching and am currently an undergraduate tutor for year 3 students from GKT School of Medicine.
