How do I get an appointment?

How do I change or cancel my Children's Physiotherapy appointment?

If you need to change or cancel your appointment please contact our Outpatient Appointments team on 01227 868686.

To ensure that waiting times are kept to a minimum we have a policy whereby if you fail to attend an appointment and do not contact the department within two working days of that appointment, you will be discharged. You will also be discharged if you cancel your appointment on two occasions without giving two working days notice.

Before your appointment.

If you are under the age of 16 you must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility for at least your first appointment.

Please arrive on time. If you are late we may not be able to see you.

Please bring a list of any medications you take regularly.

We may need to carry out a physical examination, therefore please bring appropriate clothing e.g. shorts, vest.

What will happen at my appointment?

You will be seen by one of our Children's Physiotherapists and your appointment will last 20 - 30 minutes.

Your Physiotherapist will talk to you to find out more about your problem. They will look at how you move and will examine you.

Your Physiotherapist will then make a plan with you which may include:

  • Advice

  • Activity ideas

  • Exercise

After your appointment.

Your Physiotherapist will let you know if you need further appointments.
