Gynaecology services

The gynaecology service at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust provides comprehensive care for women with a range of gynaecology issues. The service covers:

We have gynaecology inpatient wards at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, and at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.

Birchington Ward, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate

Birchington Ward is situated on the St Peters side of the hospital.

It has 19 inpatient beds for gynaeoncology and general gynaecology, a nurse led pre-assesment clinic for all elective admissions and a nurse led early pregnancy assessment unit.

Birchington Ward is the centre of excellence for gynaeoncology within the Trust.

Also based on the ward are our clinical nurse specilaists for gynaeoncology and urogynaecology.

Day surgery

We have dedicated day surgery units are located at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford; Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury; and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate. They provide excellent care for day surgery patients including pre and post operative advice.
