Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery (OMFS)

Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery (OMFS) is a surgical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck. General Medical Council recognises OMFS as a medical specialty and it is unique in requiring a dual qualifications in medicine and dentistry in order to practice at consultant level. Our department regularly receives referrals from GPs, dentists and other hospital based specialities. Possible cancer referrals are seen within 2 weeks and urgent/routine referrals are scheduled within appropriate time frame.
