At East Kent Hospitals we now offer an express self check in service to allow you to book in for your Outpatient Appointment.

You do not require a patient letter to use this service, just enter your date of birth and follow the on-screen prompts.

This service is currently available at the following sites;

  • Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury
  • Buckland Hospital, Dover
  • More sites to follow soon!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to book in using this service?

We encourage all patients to use this service and have one of our team members available to assist its use. If you do not wish to use the service then you can request to attend via our Outpatient Reception desk.

Is this service replacing reception staff?

This service is to complement the reception staff we have to allow them to book your follow up appointment with you before you leave the hospital.

How secure is my data?

You data is stored on our secured hospital servers which are fully compliant with information governance standards as well as the General Data Protection Regulations 2018 (GDPR). When using the machines your demographic data can be checked on screen which is more secure than when being asked at the Reception desk as you have complete control over it.

Do I need my appointment letter?

To use our express service you simply enter your date of birth and follow the on-screen instructions.

Why does the express service not allow me register my attendance?

The kiosks will allow you to attend one hour before your agreed appointment time or 20 minutes after.  If you are outside these time frames then you will be instructed to come to our Reception desk.  This service is only available for Outpatients and does not allow attendance for diagnostic appointments or day cases.

How often are screens cleaned?

The screens are cleaned between each session in the morning and afternoon. Cleansing hand rub is also available at Reception
