Author
NHS Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme
Description
CVS is a test to take a sample of the placenta. The cells in the placenta are a genetic copy of the baby's cells. These cells can be analysed to check the baby's chromosomes or to look for rare genetic diseases in families known to be at risk. This booklet gives you some information about the chorionic villus sampling (CVS) diagnostic test so you can decide whether to have the test.
