Renal Outpatients

The Renal Outpatients Department (ROPD) at Kent and Canterbury Hospital is situated adjacent to our renal inpatient area, Marlowe Ward.

The nearest hospital entrance is via the fracture clinic.

General Nephrology clinics staffed by Consultants and Specialist Registrars run on Monday and Tuesday afternoons (from 1:30-5pm). Consultant led Transplant clinics are held every Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Advanced Kidney Care clinics are held Wednesday mornings. Peritoneal dialysis (PD) clinics are held alternate Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. A visiting Transplant Surgeon from Guys Hospital has a weekly assessment clinic (Tuesday afternoon), and more recently a regular clinic for assessment of live donors has been established.

Consultants from other departments that work closely with us also hold clinics in ROPD, especially Urology and Vascular surgeons. Numerous clinics led by specialist kidney, vascular and urology nurses are also held in ROPD

As Kent Kidney Care Centre serves a large geographical area, a number of regular outpatient services are provided nearer to patients' homes, including General Nephrology, Peritoneal Dialysis and Advanced Kidney Care clinics, pre-dialysis and general counselling, IV iron therapy, dietary advice, and social services. These Outreach clinics are held in our Satellite renal units at Ashford, Buckland (Dover), Maidstone, Margate and Medway hospitals
