Hand Therapy Services

The East Kent Hospitals Hand Therapy Department is a team of highly dedicated  therapists.

The Hand Therapy team consists of occupational therapists and physiotherapists who work closely together using generic and specialist skills.

The Hand Therapy  team are made up of HPC registered therapists as well as one assistant. The senior members are all members of the British Association of Hand Therapy and regularly attend their meetings/courses.

The team is led by Advanced Practice Therapists supported by a Clinical specialist who work alongside the specialist Hand Surgeons within the trust.  

The team also  provide therapist input in some fracture clinics and are able to order and interpret x-rays as well as refer for some other diagnostic texts.

Our team takes great pride in their work and use a variety of specialist skills to allow people to return to optimum function with their hand, wrist and arm within their own lives.

We offer a service where we  assess and manage patients with a variety of treatment techniques, including:

 We manage a variety of Trauma and Orthopaedic hand and wrist conditions in both adults and children including:

Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

Directions: The nearest entrance is on Ramsgate Road. Please follow the signs for Therapies and x-ray – Physiotherapy is opposite the x-ray department.  There is a pay and display car park outside the Ramsgate Road entrance.

Kent and Canterbury Hospital

Directions: Take the second entrance off Ethelbert Road then first right. The visitor’s car park is then on the left. Go through the main doors, turn right and the hand therapy reception is located in the physiotherapy department which is at the end of the corridor.                    

William Harvey Hospital

Directions: Exit at junction ten of M20; take the A28 exit to Canterbury, turn right at the mini roundabout to enter hospital.  The Physiotherapy department is on the right hand side of the hospital located in the Elizabeth Browne unit which is behind the Paula Carr Centre. On entering the Elizabeth Browne Unit turn left following the signs for physiotherapy.
