Children and Young Peoples' Physiotherapy Outpatients

We provide an Outpatient Physiotherapy Service for children and young people aged 0-16 years with musculoskeletal complaints such as:

  • Aches and pains affecting everyday activities

  • After injury.

  • Parent concerns regarding their baby's head shape.

 We provide treatment within a variety of different settings including:

  • Individual sessions

  • Gym sessions

  • Aquatic Therapy sessions (In a small, heated pool)

The William Harvey Physiotherapy Department provides the following Group sessions:

  • Under 10 years Gym session (Wednesday 16.15 - 16.45)

  • Over 10 years Gym session (Tuesday 13.45 - 16.00)

  • 30 minute Aquatic Therapy sessions (Monday 14.00 - 16.00)

The Kent and Canterbury Physiotherapy Department provides the following Group sessions:

  • 30 minute Aquatic Therapy sessions (Tues 8.15 - 8.45)

  • Gym session (Tuesday 16.00 - 17.00)

Before your appointment.

If you are under the age of 16 you must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility for at least your first appointment.

Please arrive on time. If you are late we may not be able to see you.

Please bring a list of any medications you take regularly.

Please be aware that we may need to carry out a physical examination, therefore you may want to bring appropriate clothing e.g. shorts, vest.

What will happen at my appointment?

You will be seen by one of our Children's Physiotherapists and your appointment will last 20 - 30 minutes.

Your Physiotherapist will talk to you to find out more about your problem. They will look at how you move and will examine you.

Your Physiotherapist will then make a plan with you which may include:

  • Advice

  • Activity ideas

  • Exercise

After your appointment.

Your Physiotherapist will let you know if you need further appointments.
