Paediatric Urology

At East Kent Urology we provide medical and surgical services to children with conditions affecting the urinary system in a safe and caring environment along with the paediatric team. We hold clinics at The Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother Hospital, William Harvey Hospital and Kent and Canterbury Hospital in our dedicated child friendly out-patients departments.

The common conditions that we treat are:

  • Undescended/retractile testis,
  • Congenital hydroceles
  • Conditions of the foreskin
  • Urinary tract stones
  • Bladder disorders
  • Urinary tract infections

We have close links with Evelina London Children's Hospital  for those that require highly specialised care.

Please note that, if your child develops sudden testicular pain, he needs to be taken urgently to the A&E department at the William Harvey Hospital or Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital.

The cause for this pain could be the twisting of the testis on its cord and requires emergency surgery to save the testis. In order to avoid any delays in this time-critical condition, do not allow the child to eat or drink anything until he is seen by the A&E Doctor.
