Urology Pharmacy Services

The Surgical Pharmacy team working in Urology is part of the Pharmacy Directorate for East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, which provides a range of services throughout the Trust.

It is a patient focused service that is involved in every aspect of the management of medicines.

The Pharmacy directorate takes an active role in ensuring that the Trust complies with National legislation, standards and guidance on medicines, cost-effective prescribing and infection control.

The Surgical Pharmacy team works on Clarke Ward, the Urology Ward at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital, and visits the ward each day.

During your admission, a member of the Surgical Pharmacy Team will review the medicines you are prescribed and take your medication history, as well as documenting any allergies you may have.

Your prescribed drug treatment will be checked to ensure that the choice of drug is appropriate, doses are correct for you, that one drug does not interfere with another, that the medicine is in a form that you can take, and to ensure that supplies of the drug are readily available.

The pharmacy team can also answer any questions you may have about your medication.

When you are discharged, your new and existing medication will be reviewed and it will be made sure that you have an adequate supply of all medication when you go home.
