Urology services across east Kent hospitals:

Clarke Ward, Kent and Canterbury Hospital

Clarke Ward is the only urology inpatient ward in the Trust and is located at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury.

It has 36 inpatient beds with an additional six day trolleys.

The ward is managed by Sister Jackie Coates with three Junior Sisters working with her. The Matron for Clarke Ward is Lorraine Crick.

The ward is currently run in two teams Red and Blue and we hope patients will be cared for where possible by the same nurses throughout their stay.

A newspaper trolley visits the ward daily each morning at approximately 11am.

Urology Suite

The Urology Suite is based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital and is situated near the entrance to Clarke ward ,the Urology ward of the Trust.

It is a diagnostic centre (procedures listed above) and we provide Doctor and Consultant led clinics. There are also a wide range of Nurse led clinics.

The department is managed by Sister Brenda McCluskey Mayes and she is supported by Sr Elaine Freer, Sr Sarah Griffin and Urology Staff Nurse Brenda McConnell.

Urology staff include James Spinner, Jade Pilcher ,Gary Wickenden, Sheila Tappenden, Tina Lyus and Rachell Newman.

Jane Weller, Urology Stone Nurse, and Jenny Dorrell, Stone Co ordinator, manage the patients with renal calculi (stones).

Sister Carole Davidson runs a Nurse led clinic on a Tuesday and Thursday at Richborough ward at QEQM.

CNS Wendy Muir runs an Erectile Dysfunction service at QEQM on a Thursday and at the Derry Unit Folkestone on a Wednesday 

Derry Unit

The Derry Unit is based at Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkestone. It is a diagnostic outpatient department offering the same facilities as the Urology Suite and Kent and Canterbury.

The unit is managed by Sister Claire Birch.
