I act as local guarantor to all stroke related publications submitted from East Kent and have chaired the East Kent Stroke Service Research Group for the last 8 years. I have overseen the continued expansion of local and CLRN adopted multi site research and highly satisfactory MHRA inspection of stroke trials in 2011. I am currently local principle investigator for 6 international clinical trials (Convince, ACST-2, Orion-4, Gloria-AF, ENTA-AF and Prestige-AF). My personal research programmes centre around the use of advance cerebral imaging in neurovascular disease: CT perfusion for acute ischaemic stroke, MRI use in TIA presentations, Neurological manifestations of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and the organisation of acute stroke services using novel technology (ie telemedicine).
