Trauma and Orthopaedics

Georgios Arealis

I have wide research interests extending across medical applications. I work in advanced wound dressings with the University of Kent (UoK) and Canterbury Christchurch University and have 2 successful grant applications. I have supervised engineering students in developing final year projects, including soft robotics. I have completed several research projects within the Orthopaedics department that have led to publication of papers and oral presentations. I have participated in several postgraduate and PhD thesis, including a large series of patients with  metastatic cord compression. I stand as an expert advisor in several projects, including MOTION, a European Regional Development Fund co-funding project.

With a team from Medway I have successfully received a grant from MFT Medway Innovation Institute for a pilot study on ”Virtual and Augmented Reality (VARE) in Enhanced Healthcare Education.”
