HEE-NIHR Integrated Clinical and Practitioner Academic Programme (ICAP) Internship

Combining a career in research and clinical practice
Are you a Nurse, Midwife, Allied Health Professional, Social Worker, Pharmacist or Health Scientist considering a clinical academic career? Would you like to gain experience of the academic world whilst gaining exposure to the research environment?


The ICAP internship is designed to provide successful applicants a starting point on a clinical and practitioner academic career pathway and to acquire

Master’s level understanding in research methods, service improvement evaluation and applied health research interventions. The programme will include:

• Personal support from a named mentor from an NHS/Social Care organisation and an Academic Supervisor

• Taught accredited course (20 Masters Credits)

• Based within an internationally renowned, dedicated research centre at the University of Kent - The Centre for Health Services Studies (CHSS)

• Opportunity to become part of a research community involving the University, the local NHS/Social Care and the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration, Kent, Surrey and Sussex (ARC KSS)
