Our Patient Communication Portal

East Kent Hospitals University Foundation NHS Trust are pleased to offer patients the option of a new online patient portal which will provide:

  • A secure online space to view your hospital letters
  • The ability to elect to receive letters digitally or by post in standard formats or in large font, easy ready, braille
  • The ability to change your postal address.
As the service expands it will be able to offer additional information, including appointment details.

Who can use the patient portal?

All patients can sign up to the portal.

There is a rolling programme of letters and information being made available, initially appointment letters for most specialities and in time other specialities and types of correspondence, including clinic letters and also the facility to see/cancel appointments. Please note you won't receive your chosen format of letters until your speciality is live. If you do sign up to receive letters digitally, you will receive an e-mail when your first letter is available. If you choose not to sign up, or sign up at a later date, all letters will continue to be sent in the mail as at present.

What are the benefits of receiving letters digitally?

  • Faster delivery – letters are received in seconds rather than days
  • Convenience – letters can be opened and read anywhere on a mobile device
  • Environmentally friendly – sending letters by email reduces paper and stationery usage
  • Cost saving – email costs considerably less than posting a letter. The Trust is able to re-invest these savings into providing an improved service for our patients.
