Find out more about health research

Published 9 February 2023

Do you want to know more about health research and how you can get involved?

Then join the research team at East Kent Hospitals for a coffee morning at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital on Wednesday, 8 March.

The event offers the opportunity for people to chat with the team and find out about the hundreds of studies local people take part in each year across the Trust, from investigating different types of wound dressing to trialling new treatments for cancer.

Ruth Hulbert, lead research nurse, said: “We have a lot of staff who are hugely passionate about their specialities and who are very active in research to help find the best treatments for their patients.

“Some of the studies are developed by our clinicians based on their own ideas and expertise, while others are national studies that we are proud to be part of.

“The Covid-19 pandemic really highlighted the importance of research and opened people’s eyes to what we can achieve if we work together.”

The coffee morning runs on a drop-in basis from 9.30am until noon on Wednesday, 8 March at the conference room in the Education Centre at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital in Ethelbert Road, Canterbury. The education centre is on the left of the main drive towards the 1937 entrance.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to please confirm with Ruth for catering purposes at rhulbert@nhs.net or 07866 793813.
