About us Fraud and bribery
The NHS Counter Fraud Authority estimates that over £1.2 billion is lost to fraud in the NHS every year – money that could be used for patient care.
The Trust has a zero-tolerance policy for fraud and bribery. We have a dedicated local counter fraud specialist provided by RSM UK, who works with the NHS Counter Fraud Authority to raise awareness of fraud and bribery. They ensure there are effective controls in place to prevent fraud and to investigate concerns.
There are different ways fraud and bribery can occur within the NHS, for example:
· Working whilst sick
· Gifts and Hospitality
· Private work in NHS time
· Overseas Patient Fraud
· Expenses
· Timesheets
· Suppliers and Procurement
We have a number of policies in place to protect against fraud and bribery, including an anti-fraud, corruption and bribery policy, and a gifts, hospitality and conflicts of interest policy. We encourage staff to report any concerns and offer regular training on fraud awareness.
If you suspect fraud or bribery, please report your concerns to our local counter fraud specialist, Natalie Nelson-Newman on 020 3201 8358 or natalie.nelson-newman@rsmuk.com. You can also contact the Trust’s Fraud Champion, Michelle Stevens on michellestevens@nhs.net.
Alternatively, you can call the NHS Fraud and Corruption reporting line anonymously on 0800 028 4060. You can also report to the CFA confidentially online or email nhsd.fraudteam@nhs.net.
All reports are treated in confidence and you do not need to disclose your identity to use any of these reporting routes.
