Where are the libraries?
We have one physical library located in the Education Centre at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. It is open 24-hours a day to browse and borrow books (your SmartCard will need to be programmed by library staff to grant out-of-hours access).
There are library offices in the Education Centres at William Harvey Hospital and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, where staff will be able to help with any queries.
How do I borrow a book?
You can search our catalogue and request any book you see on there to be reserved and sent to the library pickup collection points at K&C, WHH, and QEQM. Please note that you will need to have registered for a Library Account in order to reserve and borrow books.
The book collection points are as follows:
K&C: Education Library, located in the Education Centre.
WHH: Study Room, located in the Education Centre.
QEQM: Opposite the Library Office, located in the Education Centre.
The Education Library at K&C is open 24-hours a day. You can borrow books from here at any time by either talking to library staff, or by signing books out using the Self-Issue Form.
Where are the study spaces?
The study space at Kent and Canterbury Hospital is located in the Multi-Professional Study Room, situated immediately to your left as you enter the Education Centre. This is available 24-hours a day. Printing and scanning facilities are available in this room, and also in the Education Library.
The study space at William Harvey Hospital is located in the Study Room, situated on your right as you enter the Education Centre doors at the top of the stairs. This is available 24-hours a day.
The study space at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital is located in the Study Room, situated down the right-hand corridor as you enter the Education Centre. This is currently only available between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
How do I get 24-hour access?
You can obtain 24-hour access to the Education Library at K&C, and the study space at WHH with a programmed SmartCard. To get your SmartCard set up, enquire with library staff at K&C or WHH.
There is currently no 24-hour access to the study space at QEQM.
If you already have a keyfob from the library, this will also grant 24-hour access. However, if it has expired, then this can be returned and we can programme your SmartCard instead.
