'Same day emergency care' improvement work update
Further major work has taken place on both the QEQM Hospital in Margate, and the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, as part of the multi-million-pound project to improve the ‘same day emergency care’ (SDEC) services.
The Urgent Treatment Centre at William Harvey Hospital has now moved to the building previously known as Paula Carr. At the QEQM Hospital in Margate, the urgent treatment centre has now moved to the Sarre building (at the Ramsgate Road side of the site).
Please can we ask that patients allow additional time when coming to these hospitals, in order to make their way to their appointments. We apologise for any inconvenience.
This work to improve the SDECs will allow acute specialists to assess, diagnose and treat patients on the same day of arrival who would otherwise have been admitted to hospital. Under this care model, patients presenting at hospital with certain conditions can be rapidly assessed, diagnosed and treated without being admitted to a ward, and if clinically safe to do so, will go home the same day their care is provided.
The Trust has been awarded £28.95m funding across both QEQM and the William Harvey Hospital, to improve the patient journey and experience in same day emergency care.
