Infected Blood Psychological Service (IBPS)

The Infected Blood Psychological Service (IBPS) is now open for referrals.

This national service offers bespoke psychological care for people who have been infected and affected by contaminated blood or blood products.

Infected and affected people in England can access the IBPS service via a national telephone line:

After you have contacted one of the IBPS centres, and if support is required, they will provide:

  • a psychological check

  • psychological treatment by clinicians with specialist expertise in issues facing those infected and affected by contaminated blood or blood products.

More information about the full range of services provided can be found on the IBPS website.

The IBPS has been designed after a long period of collaboration with:

  • those infected and affected by contaminated blood

  • families of those infected and affected by contaminated blood

  • NHS staff.
