What we do

Our Medical Physics department help apply physics and engineering to medicine. We provide scientific and technical support to improve your care. Our services are provided by a large mix of experts, from clinical scientists to occupational therapists.

The department includes:

  • Radiology physics
    Ensures safe and effective use of diagnostic medical imaging equipment, such as X-ray, CT and ultrasound scans.

  • Nuclear medicine physics
    Checks that imaging equipment works well, keeps everyone safe from radiation, and trains staff to use the equipment safely.

  • Medical devices governance
    Ensures hospital equipment is safe to use, well maintained, and used correctly by trained staff.

  • Communication and Assistive Technology (KM CAT)
    Assesses and provides technology to support with face-to-face communication for people with complex disabilities.
